OpenVDB Support

Brutal Engine natively supports OpenVDB for heterogeneous volumes such as clouds, smoke, and fire.

Load any standard .vdb file via the Volume node in Maya. The engine supports:

  • Density channel mapping.
  • Temperature channel for blackbody emission.
  • Velocity grids for motion blur (future support).

Scattering

Control the look of your volume with Scatter Anisotropy (using Henyey-Greenstein phase function). Positive values create forward scattering (clouds), while negative values create back-scattering.
